Mintimer Shaimiev meets Consul-General of Turkey in Kazan Uğur Yılmaz
On 3 April Tatarstan State Counselor Mintimer Shaimiev, who is also the Chairman of the Guardian Council of the Regional Revival Fund, had a meeting with the Consul-General of Turkey in Kazan Uğur Yılmaz, who came to office on 1 October 2023.
Mintimer Shaimiev showed his guest an exposition about the Revival Fund activities and told Uğur Yılmaz about projects implemented by the Fund in revival of the ancient city of Bolgar and the town-island of Sviyazhsk, establishment of the Bolgar Islamic Academy and the reconstruction of the Cathedral of the Kazan Virgin and establishment of poly-lingual educational complexes Adymnar.
The Turkish Consul-General stated that Tatarstan is a multi-ethnic republic and has a calm and friendly atmosphere.
“You successfully revive Muslim and Orthodox shrines. Tatarstan is an example for all of us in the sphere of preservation of the cultural heritage,” Uğur Yılmaz said and thanked Mintimer Shaimiev for a warm welcome, having expressed hope that the State Counselor will continue to support work of the Turkish Consulate in Kazan.
During their conversation, Mintimer Shaimiev and Uğur Yılmaz discussed a number of possible joint projects in the spheres of culture, education and preservation of language and the historical heritage.
