Mintimer Shaimiev takes part in an unveiling ceremony of the memorial plaque to Ilgiz Mazitov

On July 4, Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev took part in a solemn ceremony of unveiling the memorial plaque to the singer, composer, film director, teacher, professor, chairman of the Union of Concert Figures of Tatarstan, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan, holder of the Order of the Red Banner of Labor Ilgiz Gabidullovich Mazitov.

A plaque is installed on the facade of the house on Malaya Krasnaya Street, where Mazitov lived for many years. Kazan sculptor Fanil Valiullin is the author of the project.

Shaimiev welcomed the participants of the ceremony and said that the unveiling of memorial plaques to outstanding cultural figures of Tatarstan has become a good tradition recently.

State Counsellor of the republic expressed gratitude to all those who came to honor the memory of an outstanding cultural figure, who contributed to the very significant and noble cause of preserving the heritage and perpetuating his name. He especially thanked Mazitov’s spouse Galina Mizitova, who cherishes the memory of her husband and collected the composer's archive.

In her turn, Mazitova thanked Shaimiev for help and support in installing a memorial plaque to Mazitov.

Numerous colleagues, singers, artists, musicians, famous cultural figures, representatives of the creative intelligentsia and the public of the republic took part in the ceremony.
